  9. UFORA operates as a network of interested persons and groups, in all Australian
  10. States, sharing the information they acquire. Vladimir Godic co-ordinates
  11. general network administration and Keith Basterfield overall research.
  12.  
  13. The aims of the network are:
  14.  
  15. (A)  To stimulate Australian research into the UFO phenomenon, on a without
  16. prejudice basis, in order to better understand the causes(s) of the phenomenon,
  17. and
  18.  
  19. (B)  To aid research by promoting co-operation between intereste dparties.
  20.  
  21. The philosophy of the network can be best summarised by the term "Middle of the
  22. Road". It is neither a collection of "avid believers" nor "confirmed sceptics".
  23. Since its inception it has consistently argued that the UFO phenomenon is of
  24. interest to science, that it is amenable to study following scientific method,
  25. and that valuable information may be gained irrespective of the ultimate cause
  26. of the phenomenon.

  28. Results of research are published via a bi-monthly Research Digest, a
  29. periodical Newsletter, documents, catalogues and articles in a number of
  30. leading overseas UFO journals.

  34. Vladimir Godic - UFORA Administrator
  35.  
  36. Vlad has had a life interest in UFOlogy which became serious in the early 50s.
  37. His interest covers every aspect of UFOlogy. He was the founder of UFO Research
  38. (South Australia) Inc. in December 1968, the first scientifically oriented
  39. research group in Australia, and has been a Liaison Officer for the group from
  40. that time through 1980. In January 1980 he started up as the  Editor and
  41. Publisher of UFO Research Australia Newsletter. Before founding UFO Research
  42. (SA) Inc., Vlad was a Senior Vice-President (for 4 years to 1968) of
  43. Unidentified Flying Objects Phenomena Investigation Association (UFOPIA), and
  44. (for the latter 3 of those years) an investigation officer for UFOPIA in
  45. Adelaide , South Australia.

  47. In August 1982 Vlad took over the Administration job with the Australian Center
  48. For Ufo studies which he held until August 1985 when he founded UFO Research
  49. Australia.

  53. Keith Basterfield - UFOR Research Officer
  54.  
  55. Keith has held position within UFO Research (South Australia) Inc. of Co-
  56. ordinator (1977-1979) and Liaison Officer (1980-1981) He was a field
  57. investigator for APRO (1977-1980), and the Australian and New Zealand
  58. Continental Co-ordinator for MUFON as well as being Co-ordinator for the
  59. Australian Center for UFO Studies. He was also co-founder of UFO Research
  60. Australia.

  62. Keith's major achievements in UFOlogy include a compilation of several
  63. documents and introduction of the idea of "imagery" for explaining certain
  64. close encounters.
